Weather permitting, astronomers from the Derby & District Astronomical Society hold monthly observing sessions at their Flamsteed Observatory, located near the village of Brailsford.
The observatory is home to a 10″ Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope which offers excellent views of the planets, Moon and deep sky objects. Members of the Society also bring their telescopes too.
During the summer, viewing the Sun using a special solar telescope is possible, and events start a little later in the evening.
The Society welcomes beginners and prospective members to these sessions. If you have a telescope, take it along!
