Guide to the Walthamstow Night Sky: An Introduction to Urban Astronomy

Guide to the Walthamstow Night Sky: An Introduction to Urban Astronomy

Tuesday 1st October 2024 from 18:30pm to 20:45pm

Walthamstow Wetlands
Forest Road, London, London, N17 9NH

Join us for a talk from Stowstargazers who will introduce the basics of stargazing and essential tips for astronomy in an urban setting.

The evening will also feature an exclusive guided walk through the reserve to view the night sky (weather permitting). If skies are clear we can try out what we’ve just learnt during the talk and try to locate a few constellations.
It’s not essential but feel free to bring binoculars and a red-light torch. Dress according to the weather.

Stowstargazers brings people together to enjoy nature whilst experiencing the night sky. We have a passion for sharing knowledge and advice on all aspects of stargazing, learning together what is on show and giving tips for how to view the celestial sights. Michael of Stowstargazers has been an avid hobby astronomer ever since being captivated by the milky way as a child.

Please note that this has already taken place on 01/10/2024
