Hampshire Astronomical Group monthly meeting - The Astronomy of Stonehenge

Friday 13th September 2024 from 20:00pm to 21:30pm

Clanfield Memorial Hall
South Lane, Clanfield, Hampshire, PO8 0RB

Join the friendly members of the Hampshire Astronomical Group for their monthly meeting at Clanfield Memorial Hall. These meetings are ideally suited to beginners, and newcomers are welcome.

Enjoy a “middle of the road” level presentation that will appeal to those without prior knowledge and learn interesting aspects of astronomy. A small on-the-door fee is charged to help cover expenses without booking in advance.

This months talk is “The Astronomy of Stonehenge” by Simon Banton, Archeoastronomer and Stonehenge Researcher
, and includes a discussion of the accepted and more controversial astronomical alignments at Stonehenge. Did the builders understand the movements of the Sun and Moon as some believe? Can Stonehenge actually be used to predict eclipses

Please note that this has already taken place on 13/09/2024
