The Flamsteed Astronomy Society is an amateur society based at the Royal Observatory Greenwich and National Maritime Museum. The group bears its name after the first Astronomer Royal, John Flamsteed.
With its close association with the Royal Observatory, they are the only group to host observing sessions using the famous Great Equatorial Telescope. In addition, the Society regularly holds observing evenings using members’ telescopes, typically on Blackheath, and during Summer run solar events for the public.
