The Bradford Astronomical Society was originally founded in 1975 as an informal group called the Phoenix Astronomical Society. In 1976 it became formal and was renamed the Bradford Astronomical Society.

The group welcomes everyone interested in astronomy, whether they are absolute beginners or are extremely knowledgeable.

As well as regular monthly meetings, the group members organise observing sessions at a favoured dark sky location.

  • Bradford Astronomical Society lecture evening

    Monday every 2 weeks from January 2024 to December 2024

    Idle & Thackley Conservative Club, Idle, BD10 8QB

    The Bradford Astronomical Society meets at 7:30 pm on alternate Monday evenings throughout the year at Idle & Thackley Conservative Club.

    These meetings include a presentation by either a professional or a well-known amateur. You can also find out about the group's forthcoming observing sessions.

    A small on-the-door fee is payable by non-members; visitors are very welcome.
