Solar System Night! Stargazing at Sutton Bank

Amazing planets and a big moon will adorn the stunning Autumn sky as a prelude to the North Yorkshire Dark Sky Fringe Festival. Apart from the headline acts, we may even be able to spot the rarely visited and distant icy worlds of Uranus and Neptune! Plus we’ll show you out to take a picture of the moon through our telescopes using your own mobile (yes it’s possible!)
The Hub provides a warm indoor space for colourful presentations with a purpose built viewing area alongside. If it’s cloudy we will still see stars thanks to a brilliant computer based planetarium show.
The North York Moors National Park is an international dark sky reserve with low levels of light pollution. We advise you to wear sensible outdoor footwear and wrap up warm. Bring binoculars if you have them, although we will supply the telescopes and have plenty of astro binoculars for you to try!
