Meteors and Meanders - a night walk to view the Geminid's
Saturday 16th December 2023 from 19:30pm to 22:00pm
Saltergate Car Park
Lockton, Pickering, North Yorkshire, YO18 7NR
Witness the spectacular Geminid meteor shower from the Hole of Horcum in the North York Moors.
From the centre of this ancient land, the vistas are simply breathtaking. On a clear day, you can see for miles across expansive moorland, while above, the skies are huge.
It’s a perfect place to head out for a night walk, stopping now and again to gaze in wonder at a sparkling, star-filled sky. View planets, constellations and the Milky Way arcing above. Or, if you’re really lucky, see colourful meteors shooting through the atmosphere.
These shooting stars have been known to produce 100 meteors an hour at their peak. They can create a spectacular display with multi-coloured tails ranging from white and yellow and a few green, red and blue. But of course, we can’t guarantee we’ll see it quite like this!
Even so, whether its clear or cloudy, we’ll take you on an experience that’ll ramp up your feel-good factor.
