See the Perseids at OM Dark Sky Observatory
Saturday 10th August 2024 from 10:00am to Sunday 11th August 2024 00:00am
OM Dark Sky Park and Observatory
Davagh Forest, Cookstown, County Tyrone, BT79 8JH
Join the team at OM Dark Sky Observatory for an amazing Meteor Viewing Party! The Perseids Meteor Shower delivers a spectacular display of shooting stars for us every August, reaching its peak around the middle of the month.
Best viewed in dark sky conditions, come observe this high-rate meteor shower at OM Dark Sky Park and Observatory’s an accredited dark sky park. Our absence of light pollution here allows us to see more shooting stars with the naked eye.
We’ll hopefully be able to observe up to 100 Perseid meteors per hour if the skies are clear. In the event of poor weather we will provide an alternative viewing of remote cameras also experiencing the Perseids, and present a brief history of observing meteor showers and what exactly causes them.
Please note that this has already taken place on 10/08/2024
