Join the team from the Wynyard Planetarium and Observatory for a family-friendly evening of astronomy! Enjoy a presentation in their planetarium, a guided night sky tour, and see incredible objects using telescopes (weather permitting). These events occur on the first, third and fifth Fridays of each month, from September through May. You should book tickets in advance; they can be purchased via the We Got Tickets website.

Join friendly and enthusiastic amateur astronomers at Wynyard Observatory for an informal evening of stargazing. Observe the Moon, planets and deep-sky objects using their large aperture telescopes. Take your telescope if you have one for expert advice! These sessions occur every Tuesday night throughout the stargazing season from September to March, as long as volunteers are available. The free events occur, whatever the weather, with the planetarium offering somewhere warm to congregate and chat with the team. These sessions are ideal for everyone interested, including families with younger astronomers, and no need to book in advance.
